Tubbers - peelable bathtub protection

Stop paying for tubs that were fine on install day.

Tubbers sprays a tough, peelable coating onto bathtubs and shower pans right after install. It takes the beating of construction - mortar, grout haze, paint, dropped tools - then peels off clean at punch-out. No scratches. No refinishing bills. No surprises at walkthrough.

The short version

What is peelable tub protection?

It's a liquid coating we spray directly onto the tub or shower surface. It cures into a seamless, rubbery film that bonds lightly to the finish - tight enough to stay put for months of construction, loose enough to peel away by hand when the job is done.

Think of it as masking film that actually fits. Adhesive films wrinkle, lift at the drain, and leave gaps around curves. Cardboard and blankets shift. A sprayed coating covers every inch - floor, walls, apron, edges - and stays there until your crew pulls it off in sheets.

If you've been taping cardboard into tubs or writing "protect tub" on the punch list and hoping, this is the alternative.

What it stands up to

  • Scratches & scuffs
  • Mortar & thinset
  • Grout haze
  • Paint & overspray
  • Dropped tools
  • Mud & foot traffic
  • Caulk & adhesive drips
  • Stored materials

Process

Coat. Protect. Peel.

Coat

Once the tub or shower unit is set and inspected, our crew masks the surround and sprays the coating. About an hour per unit, cured within hours. Your schedule doesn't notice we were there.

Protect

The film rides through tile, paint, trim, and punch-prep. Dropped tools, mortar, grout haze, paint, dust, and foot traffic around the tub bounce off. The tub underneath stays untouched.

Peel

At punch-out, one person lifts an edge and peels the coating off in sheets. No solvents, no scraping, no residue. The tub is exactly as it was on install day.

The math

What a damaged tub actually costs you

Every superintendent knows the line item. A tub gets chipped or scratched in week three, and by week twelve you're paying to fix a fixture that was perfect when it went in.

The old way, per unit

Tub refinish (chip/scratch repair)$300 - $800
Full replacement (demo, plumbing, tile)$2,000 - $6,000+
Punch-list labor & scheduling dragDays
Closing delays while you wait on repairsYour carrying cost

Multiply that by every unit where the cardboard slipped, the blanket moved, or a trade didn't care. It adds up fast across a community.

The Tubbers way, per unit

Coating application, materials includedOne flat rate
Refinishing bills after punch-out$0
Removal laborMinutes, by hand
Volume pricing for production runsPer-community rates

In most cases, coating a unit costs less than a single refinish - and you're paying it once, on your schedule, instead of chasing repairs at the end.

Cost ranges shown are typical industry figures for the damage-repair side; your numbers will vary by market and fixture. We're happy to walk through your actual per-unit repair spend and quote against it.

Why builders switch

Why builders use it

Kills a punch-list line item

Tub damage stops being something you find at walkthrough. There's nothing to find.

Protects the schedule

No waiting on refinishers or replacement plumbing in the last two weeks before closing.

One call covers the community

Per-community scheduling and volume rates. We coordinate with your supers, not the other way around.

Better than cardboard, cheaper than repair

Full coverage that doesn't shift, costs less than one refinish, and removes in minutes.

Fit

Who it's for

Production home builders

Dozens or hundreds of identical fixtures going in on a schedule. This is where the math works hardest.

Multifamily & townhome developers

High unit counts, tight turn times, and trades stacked on top of each other in small bathrooms.

Remodelers & GCs

Keep the client's existing or newly set tub perfect while the rest of the bathroom gets torn apart around it.

Questions we hear on site

How long does the coating last?

It's rated for the full construction cycle - up to 12 months exposed. Sun, mud, dust, and foot traffic around the tub don't break it down. It stays put until your crew peels it.

When in the build do you apply it?

Right after the tub or shower unit is set, plumbed, and inspected - before tile, paint, and finish trades start working around it. Application takes about an hour per unit and cures within hours.

How does it come off?

By hand, at punch-out. Lift an edge and peel the coating off in large sheets - no solvents, no scraping, no residue. Most units take under ten minutes.

Will it damage the tub's finish?

No. The coating is formulated for factory finishes - acrylic, fiberglass, porcelain enamel, cultured marble - and releases clean without pulling gloss or leaving haze. The tub underneath is exactly as it was on install day.

What surfaces does it work on?

Bathtubs, shower pans and bases, surrounds, jetted tubs, and most factory-finished bath surfaces. If your community uses an unusual fixture, we'll coat one unit as a test first.
